The BBC recently shared a TikTok clip featuring Henry Cavill, where the actor humorously recounts the time he ignored an important call from director Zack Snyder because he was deeply engrossed in playing his favorite video game, World of Warcraft.
Henry Cavill’s enthusiasm for video games is well-known, and this passion almost cost him the iconic role of Superman. Cavill was so committed to his gaming session that he initially missed Snyder’s call offering him the part. However, Cavill’s portrayal of Superman in Man of Steel wasn’t the only role that catapulted him to fame. The actor also took on the lead role of Geralt in The Witcher.
One of the burning questions among World of Warcraft fans has always been which faction Henry Cavill aligns with: Horde or Alliance? Cavill didn’t leave much room for speculation, as he was quite straightforward in his response: “Alliance.”
During the Graham Norton Show, Henry Cavill was asked how he got the role of Superman. He explained, “I was playing a game called World of Warcraft, and I missed a call from Zack Snyder, who was trying to tell me I’d gotten the role of Superman.”
For such big moments, we think that actors usually receive a timeframe during which they might expect a call from the director with important news, so Norton was curious if Cavill had his phone on silent. Norton asked, “But did you hear the phone ringing?”
Cavill replied that he did hear it but chose to ignore it because he was too busy playing World of Warcraft.
