During an interview with World of Warcraft content creator Countdown, Josh Greenfield and Tim Jones were straightforward about GDPK runs, stating: “Players may think they are clever, but they are actually not.”
Phase two of World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery is currently up and running, and one noteworthy detail from the preview article is the prohibition of GDPK runs.
GDKP stands for Gold Dragon Kill Points. In GDKP dungeons or raids, participants compete through bids for items, and the highest bidder is the one who secures the item by paying the most gold.
In a 30-minute interview with content creator Josh Corbett, he asked if Blizzard would hinder the growth of Peacebloom DKP now that GDKPs are banned:
“I’m just going to say that there are a lot of players out there looking to create systems, and they all think they’re very clever. They really do. However, they’re not actually that clever. A horse by any other name is still a horse. There’s not really going to be much to catch us on a technicality this year. If you’re doing this, we’re going to know you’re doing it, and we’re going to take the action we said we’re going to take.”
Josh Corbett mentioned that this is a common-sense approach, and Greenfield agrees with him.
“Somebody dropped the whole legal analogy on me the other day that it was like a Supreme Court Justice was like. It was some case, and I can’t remember exactly, he couldn’t remember exactly what it was, but it’s like; I don’t know how to define this but I’ll know it when i see it kind of thing. That’s kind of the approach we’re going to take. I’m not going to draw a box and say: This is the box. Be within this box or else”
