In an interview with Dexerto, Rod Fergusson confirmed that Blizzard is making “annual expansions” for the game.
Blizzard is no stranger to expansions. World of Warcraft has seen numerous expansions, and even the Diablo series boasts notable ones like “Lord of Destruction” and “Reaper of Souls.” While Diablo is addressing the gap with its seasons, like Season of Blood, players are still eager for additional content.
Dexerto asked Fergusson about Diablo 4’s future plans, and he mentioned “quarterly seasons” and “annual expansions,” giving us a glimpse into how Blizzard is planning the game’s schedule.
“When you look at the launch of the game and this first season, we see that as building a foundation on which we can build for the future. So, as we look at our quarterly seasons, and we look at our annual expansions, those are the things that we’re really focused on for our live service.”
Fergusson informed the gaming news platform that the Diablo team has ongoing plans involving continuous cycles of seasons and expansions, indicating their long-term commitment to this approach.
