Microsoft and Activision are forming a new team under Blizzard Entertainment to develop smaller games based on popular series like Overwatch, Warcraft, and Starcraft.
According to Windows Central, this new team will mainly consist of former King (Candy Crush) and other pars of Activision employees. They will focus on creating AA games, which are less costly to produce than the large-scale AAA titles. This move comes as Microsoft aims to manage the rising costs of game development.
By leveraging King’s talent and focusing on smaller projects, Microsoft and Activision hope to deliver fresh, exciting games within Blizzard’s beloved franchises what could be maybe on Mobile, given King’s mobile expertise.
Windows Central also reports that Microsoft wants to experiment with smaller, integrated teams for seamless collaboration, similar to Nintendo’s approach.
