It is possible to do this through VR! Redditor Servant is using a special custom map:
This is a custom map you can use as your home on Steams VRhome application for the Vive and Index. You can even place all your props and trophies from game achievements in the world, one of which being a panel that projects your desktop. I’ve got my home and props set up at the Goldshire Inn, but I figured showing the walk in to Stormwind would be neat. As well, there are a few Wow custom intractables the map maker created. I’m assuming the map was ripped from the game files, but I don’t know for sure.
