Cataclysm

World of Warcraft dev say that Raid Finder is “unlikely” for Cataclysm Classic.

In an interview with Game Rant, Nora Valletta, the lead software engineer for World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic, and game designer Kris Zierhut shared their thoughts on the Raid Finder system.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic launched this week, and players are enjoying it. It’s included with a World of Warcraft subscription, so no extra purchase is needed. In Cataclysm Classic, players can choose between old and new character models and benefit from essential engine updates. The game aims to fix issues from the original release, such as faster leveling from 1-80, a quicker patch release schedule, and account-wide appearances. Cataclysm Classic also introduces new races (Goblin and Worgen), the Archaeology profession, and Transmog.

In an exclusive interview with Game Rant, the World of Warcraft developers were asked whether the latest Classic expansion would include the Raid Finder System. The Raid Finder system, akin to the Dungeon Finder system, enables players to group up with others for dungeons. Lead software engineer Nora Valletta informed Game Rant that while Raid Finder isn’t something they’re planning to launch, there are currently no plans to introduce it.

However The software engineers keep the door open: “That’s not to say that we won’t necessarily decide if enough players are letting us know, “Hey, that is actually something we really want to see.” We may decide to introduce it later on, but at this moment in time, we don’t have any plans of introducing Raid Finder to Cataclysm Classic.”
