Destiny 2 and Starfield being top best sellers on Steam in 2023

Steam has unveiled its compilation of the top-selling games on the platform spanning from January 1 to December 15 ’23

Starfield has maintained strong sales despite its inclusion in the Xbox Game Pass since its launch. The Bethesda RPG secured top rankings in all eligible categories, earning a place in the Platinum category.

Despite being listed as a Steam Platinum earner among top-grossing games, Bungie recently laid off 100 employees due to a reported 45% revenue miss for the year. This discrepancy raises questions about the significant revenue generated by Destiny 2 but falling short of Bungie’s projections, highlighting the challenges in expansion, season, and microtransaction sales following the release of Lightfall.

The digital marketplace categorized the bestsellers into four tiers: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The game listings are presented randomly due to the nondisclosure of revenue specifics.
