More people are playing Skyrim than Starfield

Starfield made waves just over two months ago with a claim to the title of the “biggest Bethesda game launch” ever. However, recent trends show a shift in player engagement, with Skyrim gaining momentum on Steam.

According to Eurogamer, Skyrim’s 2011 release has 1,610 Steam users exploring its vast world, while an additional 13,776 players are immersed in the 2016 Special Edition, bringing the total Skyrim player count on Steam to 15,386. In comparison, Starfield has 11,563 space explorers navigating its celestial landscapes, with a 24-hour peak of 23,920.

Despite Starfield achieving an all-time Steam peak of 330,723 players, surpassing both Skyrim releases, a closer look at the graph reveals a decline in its lifetime player count since launch. It’s important to note that the landscape might be different on Xbox consoles and Game Pass, but the contrast on Steam is striking, especially considering the recency of Starfield’s release compared to Skyrim.
