The release of the new expansion, “The Final Shape,” presents an opportune moment for former players to revisit the game. However, gaming options have evolved over the decade since Destiny 2‘s launch. Is it possible to play Bungie’s shooter, Destiny 2, on Valve’s Steam Deck?
Handheld gaming has become increasingly popular lately, with devices like the ROG Ally from Asus and the Steam Deck hitting the market. But while many companies are on board with these gadgets, Bungie isn’t one of them.
Last September, Xbox upset a lot of players by pulling the game from XCloud, and the decline of Google’s Stadia was a letdown for many Guardians who enjoyed playing it in the cloud.
As per Yahoo Movies’ discovery of the official help page, Bungie plans to take action against Destiny 2 gamers attempting to play the game on their Steam Deck by banning them:
“Players who attempt to launchDestiny 2on the Steam Deck through SteamOS or Proton will be unable to enter the game and will be returned to their game library after a short time,” it stated. “Players who attempt to bypassDestiny 2incompatibility will be met with a game ban.”
Bungie hasn’t explained why it’s so opposed to the game being played on the Steam Deck.
