Destiny 2 players are cancelling pre-orders for The Final Shape expansion due to recent mass layoffs at Bungie. The company cut 8% of its workforce, blaming lower revenue, and delayed the expansion. CEO Pete Parsons said the layoffs were due to Destiny 2’s underperformance and weak pre-orders for The Final Shape.
It was noted that The Final Shape, the final expansion in Destiny’s decade-long Light and Darkness story, has been rescheduled from February 2024 to June 2024, while Marathon is set to launch in 2025. Fans on Reddit and other social media are boycotting the expansion, citing the layoffs and game’s state as reasons for seeking refunds. One player mentioned having over 3000+ hours in the game but still deciding to refund their pre-order due to the situation.

Me, on the way to find out if I can refund Destiny 2 and every expansion I’ve ever purchased. pic.twitter.com/OX8Nmqfkrh

I don’t know if I can get a refund for the Final Shape expansion but – I am going to try.
Bungie got literally nuked… What was supposed to help the company be better just gutted it. This is such a shame.
Final Shape of Destiny 2 seems to be taken literally…

MMO’s to play instead of Destiny 2? I’m about to refund TFS as well.
